Even though we can’t speak for all samosas (of course), usually the main difference lies mainly in the filling.
At Royal Spice, the BIG BIG difference is:
- Vegetable Samosa is filled with spiced potatoes, green peas, and nuts.
- While the Chicken Samosa is filled with minced chicken and spices.

- First, we start by preparing the filling:
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Toss in the cumin seeds and wait for them to fry—just for a few seconds.
- Now, add the minced chicken and cook until it’s golden brown.
- Sprinkle in ground coriander, cumin powder, and garam masala. Give it a good stir.
- Let it cook until it dries up and everything is well mixed.
Now you have the famous chicken samosa filling!
- It’s time to make the crispy dough:
- Mix wheat flour with water and a pinch of salt until you get a smooth dough.
- Divide it into small balls and roll each ball into thin circles.
- The next step is to piece together the samosa:
- Take one of the dough circles and fold it in half to form a crescent shape.
- Pinch the edges to seal, creating a small “cone.”
- Fill the cone with the chicken filling you prepared and pinch the top to seal it well.
- Finally, you can fry the samosas by heating vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.

To finish off, remove the samosas from the oil and place them on paper to remove the excess fat.
