About Royal Spice Restaurant in Lisbon

We are Royal Spice restaurant – no, not just like any other Indian restaurant in Lisbon. We’ve tasted what other places have to offer in Lisbon, and while they might be fine, we knew we could do better—much better. Our mission is simple: to bring India to Lisbon with a level of quality and flavour that’s unmatched.

Our Story: From India to Lisbon

Royal Spice’s story begins in the heart of India, where our chefs grew up. In households where the meals and the kitchen were basically the whole soul of the house and where recipes passed through generations. It was not just about sustenance, but instead a celebration.

After many years, cooking and mastering the foods of India, our chefs became legends in their hometowns. And they wanted more. They wanted to share their food with more people. And so, in 2018, they moved to Lisbon, to together open up Royal Spice restaurant.

Signature Dishes at Royal Spice

  • Butter Chicken
    Creamy and delicious, our Butter Chicken features tender chicken pieces in a rich tomato sauce. It’s perfect with naan or rice.
  • Paneer Tikka Masala
    Soft cubes of paneer grilled and served in a flavourful, spiced sauce. Creating a delicious Indian dish, and a great choice for vegetarians!
  • Tiger Prawn Curry
    Juicy prawns cooked in a creamy coconut sauce with aromatic spices.
  • Mali Methi Chicken
    Our Mali Methi Chicken is made with chicken in a creamy sauce flavoured with fenugreek leaves (methi) and mild spices.

Meet our chefs

Gopal Sapkota and Khim Rana

Gopal is the one behind our menu, with Khim as his right hand. Together in India, they perfected a variety of dishes — from the curries and masalas of the north to the coconut dishes of the south, along with the popular street foods loved all around the country.

Joining these two are team members who once worked with them in India and that followed them on this adventure to Portugal.

With over 25 years of combined experience, they make sure you always leave Royal Spice restaurant happy.

Meet our front-house team

Niraj Thapa (on the right)

Niraj is our manager, responsible of the daily operations at Royal Spice restaurant. Coming from Nepal, he ensures everything runs smoothly and welcomes our customers into a warm atmosphere.

Sabin Regmi and Sapana Dahal

Sabin is our bartender, and Sapana is our waitress. They are the friendly faces of our restaurant, bringing warmth and personality, even if a bit shy at times. Together, they ensure you have a wonderful experience at Royal Spice Restaurant.
